The WorldSkills Calgary 2009 Opening Ceremony takes place today. At a special ticketed event competitors will be ‘pumped up’ and their supporters will be offered a glimpse of the week ahead. The action will feature the Parade of Competitors, a wide variety of entertainment displaying the diversity of Canadian culture, and end with a fireworks display.
Calgary is 7 hours behind the UK, so when the ceremony starts at 6pm, it will be 1 o’clock in the morning our time. No need to stay up late however, as we’ll ensure you catch the best bits right here and through our twitter, flickr and YouTube channels – make sure you are following the action!
So, Dean and Cliff, along with the rest of Team UK, have had a couple of days to acclimatise to their Calgary surroundings and to put the finishing touches to their competition preparation.
The ‘games’ begin tomorrow with the first day of intensive competitions that run through until the end of Saturday. Here’s wishing you all the best guys, we’re right behind you!
All the very best to Cliff and Dean as they get ready for the WorldSkills finals in Calgary. We are all thinking of you back here in a wet and windy Wales!
With best wishes,
Jeff Gunningham
